If you fall down, you have to get back up again.
Failure only comes when you quit.
We all have bad days, and all the other sayings and verses to describe being human.
It happens a to all of us.
The important thing is how you deal with it.
If you look closely, you can see how far off I was first time with the stacked lobe. You don’t even have to look to closely.
As always I carefully placed my dots and asked Gemma to check them. We both agreed they were great. It was only after the jewellery was in did we realise just how far out I was. You can see, that’s about 2.5 miles away in piercing terms.
The wonderful Gemma was happy for me to remove the offending offset piercing and try again.
It’s always really important in these moments to accept that you’ve made a mistake and be gracious and calm and work hard to make it perfect.
I re-opened and lower lobes and eventually did a fresh set of stacked lobes.

β¨We pierce children’s lobes from age 7+
It’s really important that they understand what’s going to happen, and they are happy.
β¨Please don’t tell your children that it won’t hurt!
They need to be fully aware of what’s going to happen, and also willing and able to look after them when they’re freshly pierced.
β¨It’s important they understand that they are not allowed to touch or play with the jewellery and they need to clean them regularly.
β¨We need photo ID from both parent/guardian and child please. we cannot go ahead with the piercing if we don’t have this paperwork. It is essential. Also, a parent/guardian must attend the appointment.
β¨Lobes will take 6months + to heal (please see my healing highlights for more information
If your child’s school has a strict no jewellery policy, you may want to re-think getting them done.
β¨We also do not recommend taking them out for P.E whilst they are healing.
β¨Continually removing and inserting the jewellery into a new/healing piercing will cause lots of problems and discomfort. It will also delay the healing process.
β¨If you have been here before, we will know we are a friendly, inclusive, safe space and everyone is welcome

β¨We are a small studio where safety is paramount.

Guns are bad. Also known as ‘piercing systems’ or ‘piercing instrument’ if it’s not a needle. Then back away, slowly. This is why.
οΏ½
1. You can’t sterilise the equipment, and yes, they are used over and over and over. All our equipment is either single use or thoroughly cleaned AND sterilised after every client.
2. οΏ½One size fits all jewellery, often far too short ending up with the jewellery getting embedded into the ear, and a trip to A&E. We have many different lengths and sizes of jewellery to ensure a perfect fit.
3. οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½The jewellery isn’t that sharp and is pushed through the ear, this causes far more trauma to the ear than using a blade.

4. Mistery metal. Who knows what the jewellery is actually made from, but it’s cheap, and that usually means it’s not appropriate for new piercings as the metal will be in direct contact with bodily fluids as the piercing site heals, only good quality titanium and high carat gold it acceptable.
Quite often your child is sat in a window with passers by being able to see. This isn’t ideal.
Usually in a piercing room it’s private, and you are given time. which is everything when you’re young and nervous.

Your piercings healing journey.
1. Inflammatory Phase
This stage begins almost straight away, once any bleeding has stopped.
The pierced area will swell, become red and sore to the touch. This is your bodies way of trying to dispel the foreign object, the jewelery. It’s important your body is allowed to swell, this is why we use longer jewellery to start with.
2. Proliferative Phase
This phase can last between 4-8 weeks
During this phase your body will start to grow new tissue around the jewellery, you will notice your jewellery getting ‘crusty’, this is normal. It is a mix of lymph, plasma and dead cells, it’s a good sign but needs to be cleaned away at least once a day so it doesn’t build up .
At the end of this phase you will need a jewellery downsize as the initial labret will be too long.
As the fistula is still extremely fragile this has to be done very gently by a professional.
Maturation Phase
This is the last and longest phase and takes up to two years to complete.
The delicate fistula is built up and expands making the piercing site more robust. It is still important you keep on top of keeping it clean, and making sure the jewellery is the right length and is securely attached. (If you’re not sure about this, please book in for a piercing health check and I will happily have a look).
it’s really important piercings are given a chance to complete this last stage. It states two years, but if you are always changing jewellery, sleeping on it, touching it etc you are damaging the fistula and your body has to rebuild the damage meaning it will take far longer to finally settle.
Once your piercing has matured you will have a healed piercing.
However some piercings will still close up even after they’ve fully healed. If you have to take your piercings out for whatever reason, it’s always best to ask a professional if it’s ok to do so.

My new ‘mid’ high nostrils! π«ΆπΌ
Originally I wanted super high nostrils, but my anatomy said no. This is as high as we can go so for me because of my anatomy, my nose is very narrow and my cartilage comes down quite far.
All piercings are anatomy dependent, and piercers bodies are no exception.

If you fall down, you have to get back up again.
Failure only comes when you quit.
We all have bad days, and all the other sayings and verses to describe being human.
It happens a to all of us.
The important thing is how you deal with it.
If you look closely, you can see how far off I was first time with the stacked lobe. You don’t even have to look to closely.
As always I carefully placed my dots and asked Gemma to check them. We both agreed they were great. It was only after the jewellery was in did we realise just how far out I was. You can see, that’s about 2.5 miles away in piercing terms.
The wonderful Gemma was happy for me to remove the offending offset piercing and try again.
It’s always really important in these moments to accept that you’ve made a mistake and be gracious and calm and work hard to make it perfect.
I re-opened and lower lobes and eventually did a fresh set of stacked lobes.

She decided she didn’t want them doing, so I stopped. Then after a couple of minutes chill out, she decided she wanted just the one doing. Which is fine! I’m so proud of her for getting over her fears, going for it, and getting the one done π₯° she was very brave and is super proud of her earring.

β¨We pierce children’s lobes from age 7+
It’s really important that they understand what’s going to happen, and they are happy.
β¨Please don’t tell your children that it won’t hurt!
They need to be fully aware of what’s going to happen, and also willing and able to look after them when they’re freshly pierced.
β¨It’s important they understand that they are not allowed to touch or play with the jewellery and they need to clean them regularly.
β¨We need photo ID from both parent/guardian and child please. we cannot go ahead with the piercing if we don’t have this paperwork. It is essential. Also, a parent/guardian must attend the appointment.
β¨Lobes will take 6months + to heal (please see my healing highlights for more information
If your child’s school has a strict no jewellery policy, you may want to re-think getting them done.
β¨We also do not recommend taking them out for P.E whilst they are healing.
β¨Continually removing and inserting the jewellery into a new/healing piercing will cause lots of problems and discomfort. It will also delay the healing process.
β¨If you have been here before, we will know we are a friendly, inclusive, safe space and everyone is welcome
But
β¨We are a small studio where safety is paramount.
We only allow one parent/guardian to attend the appointment with their child. it’s important we have enough space to work professionally. Friends and family can wait in the coffee shop over the road. It’s super comfortable and ‘the coffee is excellent !

Guns are bad. Also known as ‘piercing systems’ or ‘piercing instrument’ if it’s not a needle. Then back away, slowly. This is why.
οΏ½
1. You can’t sterilise the equipment, and yes, they are used over and over and over. All our equipment is either single use or thoroughly cleaned AND sterilised after every client.
2. οΏ½One size fits all jewellery, often far too short ending up with the jewellery getting embedded into the ear, and a trip to A&E. We have many different lengths and sizes of jewellery to ensure a perfect fit.
3. οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½The jewellery isn’t that sharp and is pushed through the ear, this causes far more trauma to the ear than using a blade.

4. Mistery metal. Who knows what the jewellery is actually made from, but it’s cheap, and that usually means it’s not appropriate for new piercings as the metal will be in direct contact with bodily fluids as the piercing site heals, only good quality titanium and high carat gold it acceptable.
Quite often your child is sat in a window with passers by being able to see. This isn’t ideal.
Usually in a piercing room it’s private, and you are given time. which is everything when you’re young and nervous.

Your piercings healing journey.
1. Inflammatory Phase
This stage begins almost straight away, once any bleeding has stopped.
The pierced area will swell, become red and sore to the touch. This is your bodies way of trying to dispel the foreign object, the jewelery. It’s important your body is allowed to swell, this is why we use longer jewellery to start with.
2. Proliferative Phase
This phase can last between 4-8 weeks
During this phase your body will start to grow new tissue around the jewellery, you will notice your jewellery getting ‘crusty’, this is normal. It is a mix of lymph, plasma and dead cells, it’s a good sign but needs to be cleaned away at least once a day so it doesn’t build up .
At the end of this phase you will need a jewellery downsize as the initial labret will be too long.
As the fistula is still extremely fragile this has to be done very gently by a professional.
Maturation Phase
This is the last and longest phase and takes up to two years to complete.
The delicate fistula is built up and expands making the piercing site more robust. It is still important you keep on top of keeping it clean, and making sure the jewellery is the right length and is securely attached. (If you’re not sure about this, please book in for a piercing health check and I will happily have a look).
it’s really important piercings are given a chance to complete this last stage. It states two years, but if you are always changing jewellery, sleeping on it, touching it etc you are damaging the fistula and your body has to rebuild the damage meaning it will take far longer to finally settle.
Once your piercing has matured you will have a healed piercing.
However some piercings will still close up even after they’ve fully healed. If you have to take your piercings out for whatever reason, it’s always best to ask a professional if it’s ok to do so.

Originally I wanted super high nostrils, but my anatomy said no. This is as high as we can go so for me because of my anatomy, my nose is very narrow and my cartilage comes down quite far.
All piercings are anatomy dependent, and piercers bodies are no exception.

I had the pleasure of adding three new shiny gold ends, one hammered dot from @junipurrjewelry in an existing tragus piercing.
The stunning croissant from Junipurr as a low flat and the cute 6 dots from @tish_lyon as a 4th lobe/super low helix. I also added two stunning junipurr tribead clickers to Nicky’s excising helix piercings, but me being me, I didn’t take any decent photos of those.

Tessa decided to hold fire on fancy jewellery until they’re healed as they are in a spot that can get knocked at lot. For tricky areas, keeping it simple while piercings heal is sometimes good idea.
